Zhongli’s Normal Attack can combo up to 6 strikes dealing physical damage to enemies. While extremely flashy, it doesn’t exactly scale the highest as he is part of Polearm class, he makes up for this though because of the short interval between attacks which synergize well with some of his best weapons.

Every mountain, rock, and inch of land is filled with the power of Geo, but those who can wield such powers freely are few and far between. | Press | Commands the omnipresent power of the earth to solidify into a Stone Stele, standing 30 seconds, dealing AoE Geo DMG at the creation. |
Hold | Causes nearby Geo energy to explode, causing the following effects: – If their maximum number hasn’t been reached, creates a Stone Stele. – Creates a shield of jade. The shield’s DMG Absorption scales based on Zhongli’s Max HP. Possesses 150% DMG Absorption against all Elemental and Physical DMG. – Deals AoE Geo DMG. – If there are nearby targets with the Geo element, it will drain a large amount of Geo element from a maximum of 2 such targets. This effect does not cause DMG. |
Stone Stele | When created, deals AoE Geo DMG. Additionally, every 2 seconds, it will resonate with other nearby Geo Constructs, dealing with Geo DMG to surrounding opponents. Stele creation and Resonance generate 0.5 elemental particles. The Stone Stele is considered a Geo Construct that can both be climbed and used to block attacks. Only one Stele created by Zhongli himself may initially exist at any one time. |
Jade Shield | Possesses 150% DMG Absorption against all Elemental and Physical DMG. Characters protected by the Jade Shield will decrease the Elemental RES and Physical RES of opponents in a small AoE by 20%. This effect cannot be stacked. |
Attributes | Level 1 | Level 15 |
---|---|---|
Stone Stele/Resonance DMG | 16% / 32% | 38% / 76% |
Press Cooldown | 4 Seconds | 4 Seconds |
Hold DMG | 80% | 190% |
Shield Base Absorption | 1232 | 3893 |
Additional Shield Absorption | 12.8% Max HP | 30.4% Max HP |
Shield Duration | 20 Seconds | 20 Seconds |
Hold Cooldown | 12 Seconds | 12 Seconds |
His elemental skill produces a pillar and there’s almost no need to use the press version of the skill since the most important thing is the Jade Shield while the pillar itself is more or less just a nice damage bonus.
The thing that makes Jade Shield completely insane is that you can reduce all of the enemy’s resistances by 20% if you stand close to them, essentially increasing your damage without too much effort that persists for a pretty long time since the shield can absorb a lot of damage.
Zhongli becomes more resistant to interruptions while he is casting the shield and the pillar appears right in front of him which can stop some of the attacks coming directly at him.
His playstyle right now demands you to keep up the Jade Shield as often as possible and take advantage of it by using characters that are excellent at close combat.

Zhongli brings a huge meteor crashing down dealing massive Geo damage and applying petrification to enemies caught near the impact site and petrified enemies become immobilized. After unlocking the Talent “Dominance of Earth”, His burst deals additional damage to enemies which scales with Zhongli’s max HP.
His exceptional ability to provide support and deal damage makes him quite prepared for any scenario and the most reliable build for Zhongli was either utilizing health or a mix of traditional support equipment. This way, Zhongli’s primary purpose was to generate powerful shields that allowed players to survive incoming attacks in content such as the Spiral Abyss.
This intended playstyle was even confirmed by miHoYo themselves after they posted their developer’s response letter stating that Zhongli’s primary role consists of supporting the teammates. Basically, building Zhongli with Health provides even more benefits than just having a stronger burst skill.
