Talents
Yelan is a hydro DPS who deals substantial damage and applies hydro to set up reactions. Her kit can be convenient to use purely for off-field purposes but it also has room for interesting combos that aspiring players can learn.
![]() | |
---|---|
Normal | Performs up to 4 consecutive shots with a bow. |
Charge | Perform a more precise Aimed Shot with increased DMG. While aiming, flowing water will accumulate on the arrowhead. A fully charged torrential arrow will deal Hydro DMG. |
Plunge | Fires off a shower of arrows in mid-air before falling and striking the ground, dealing AoE DMG upon impact. |
Breakthrough | Yelan will enter a “Breakthrough” state after spending 5 seconds out of combat, which will cause her next Charged Aimed Shot to have 80% decreased charge time, and once charged, she can fire a “Breakthrough Barb” that will deal AoE Hydro DMG based on Yelan’s Max HP. |

Attributes | Level 1 | Level 10 |
---|---|---|
1-Hit DMG | 40.68% | 80.41% |
2-Hit DMG | 39.04% | 77.18% |
3-Hit DMG | 51.6% | 102% |
4-Hit DMG | 21.67% x 3 | 42.84% x 3 |
Aimed Shot | 43.86% | 86.7% |
Fully-Charged Aimed Shot | 124% | 223.2% |
Breakthrough Barb DMG | 11.58% Max HP | 20.84% Max HP |
Plunge DMG | 56.83% | 112.34% |
Low / High Plunge DMG | 113.63% / 141.93% | 224.62% / 280.57% |
Players can actually choose to ignore charged attack and its breakthrough mechanic completely but we think it still has merit for trying out.
If you’re out of combat for 5 seconds she gets the breakthrough state. You’ll notice her wristband glowing which means the effect is ready. I should emphasize that out of combat means your team should not be in battle. It won’t work even if Yelan is not switched in but you’re still in combat.
This reduces her charged attack cooldown. In fact, it’s almost instantaneously charged and makes it deal AOE hydro damage.
In theory, doing a breakthrough charged attack is good especially against groups of enemies simply because it’s quick AOE damage. It produces an AOE even if the shot hits the ground so aiming isn’t that necessary.
You must level up her normal attack to increase its damage, which consumes resources for a talent with a somewhat niche purpose. But it’s something you can eventually do to cover all bases of her kit.
Basically, only use and level this if you want to maximize her entire kit rotation; otherwise, ignore it and focus on her Skill and Burst.

Fires off a Lifeline that tractors her in rapidly, entangling and marking opponents along its path. When her rapid movement ends, the Lifeline will explode, dealing Hydro DMG to the marked opponents based on Yelan’s Max HP. Tap Moves a certain distance forward swiftly. Hold Engages in continuous, swift movement, during which Yelan’s resistance to interruption is increased. During this time, Yelan can control this rapid movement and end it by using this skill again. Additionally, each opponent marked by the “Lifeline” when it explodes grants Yelan a 34% chance to reset her “Breakthrough” state. |

Attributes | Level 1 | Level 15 |
---|---|---|
Skill DMG | 22.61% Max HP | 53.71% Max HP |
Max Duration (Hold) | 3 Seconds | 3 Seconds |
Cooldown | 10 Seconds | 10 Seconds |
Her skill work by passing through enemies while it’s triggered marks them. Either you press it for instant damage or hold it to move around quickly and mark more enemies to damage.
This can be quite helpful for battlefield mobility. You gain interruption resistance by using the hold version, but you still take damage and reaction effects like being frozen.
All enemies marked will simultaneously take hydro damage when triggered and you’ll generate 4 hydro particles. It should be noted that the Hydro only applies when it is activated, not when the mark is applied. This actually can be set up for vaporized reactions.
We found that it actually deals good damage, though because it scales on HP, attack buffs have no effect on it. It also has another mechanic in which each enemy marked gives a 34% chance to reset her breakthrough state if it’s on cooldown.
So, while waiting to catch the hydro particles generated by her skill, you can use her charge attack.

Deals AoE Hydro DMG and creates an “Exquisite Throw,” which aids her in battle. Exquisite Throw This follows the character around and will initiate a coordinated attack under the following circumstances, dealing Hydro DMG based on Yelan’s Max HP:
|

Attributes | Level 1 | Level 15 |
---|---|---|
Burst DMG | 7.31% Max HP | 17.36% Max HP |
Exquisite Throw DMG | 4.87% Max HP x 3 | 11.57% Max HP x 3 |
Duration | 15 Seconds | 15 Seconds |
Cooldown | 18 Seconds | 18 Seconds |
Energy Cost | 70 | 70 |
When you activate her burst, you deal AOE hydro damage and summon a dice that deals coordinated attacks every second with the active character’s normal attacks. It deals damage and applies hydro by firing three projectiles at once. It can also activate its effect if you trigger her skill damage.
This is Yelan’s main source of damage and hydro application utility, making it the most important part of her kit. Level up her Burst talent first, then her Skill level, and finally her Normal Attack talent, depending on your usage.
Passive Talents
Unlock 2 more passive talents for Yelan on her first and fourth ascension phase.

---|
When the party has 1/2/3/4 Elemental Types, Yelan’s Max HP is increased by 6%/12%/18%/30%. |
![]() |
So long as an Exquisite Throw is in play, your own active character deals 1% more DMG. This increases by a further 3.5% DMG every second. The maximum increase to DMG dealt is 50%. The pre-existing effect will be dispelled if Depth-Clarion Dice is recast during its duration. Damage bonus gained by this passive has the following attributes:
|
![]() |
Gains 25% more rewards when dispatched on a Liyue Expedition for 20 hours. |
Constellations
New constellation’s passive abilities can be unlocked for Yelan each time you obtain a character’s specific item called Stella Fortuna and these upgrades can permanently enhance Yelan in various ways.
![]() |
---|
Lingering Lifeline gains 1 additional charge. |
![]() |
When Exquisite Throw conducts a coordinated attack, it will fire an additional water arrow that will deal 14% of Yelan’s Max HP as Hydro DMG. This effect can trigger once every 1.8 seconds. |
![]() |
Increases the Level of Lingering Lifeline by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15. |
![]() |
Increases all party members’ Max HP by 10% for 25s for every opponent marked by Lifeline when the Lifeline explodes. A maximum increase of 40% Max HP can be attained in this manner. |
![]() |
Increases the Level of Depth-Clarion Dice by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15. |
![]() |
After using Depth-Clarion Dice, Yelan will enter the Mastermind state. In this state, all of Yelan’s Normal Attacks will be the stronger Breakthrough Barbs. These Breakthrough Barbs will have all their normal abilities and the DMG dealt will be considered Charged Attack DMG, dealing 130% of their normal DMG. The Mastermind state lasts 20 seconds and will be cleared after Yelan fires 6 arrows. |

DPS | SUB DPS | SUPPORT |
Yelan is more enjoyable to play than I expected, but I still gave Xiao my guaranteed pull.
yelan’s burst and yoimiya’s skill are a perfect match.
I just finished Yelan’s trial; she’s a lot of fun, and all of her different skills are enjoyable to play, but I’m more interested in getting Heizou, so I’m saving.
I kinda want xiao more after trying her on her trial, lol.
how about now?
So its a 5 star Xingqui?
Xingqiu appears to be a melee defensive support, whereas Yelan seems to be a ranged offense support.
I didn’t intend to get her, but I think having two xingqiu is never a bad thing.
Yelan will be one of the finest burst dps units in the game at constellation 6.
Yelan has a wider range of bow choices than most people believe. The majority of players will play her with the Emblem of Severed Fate set. As a result, both sacrifice and favonius will look fantastic on her. This will also give her a good battery.
Without a doubt, she’ll make an excellent sub-dps.
I’ll save for kazuha till I see if she’s good diluc or yoimiya support.
is she good?
If you want to run numerous vape teams or a mono hydro team, Yelan is a wonderful choice.
When Yelan use her bursts, her passive raises the active character’s damage by 50%. This sets her apart from Xingqiu.
She’s a high-damage character who works well in a variety of teams and can also provide support.
I truly hope she will work with Hu Tao. I’ve heard she doesn’t use enough Hydro, which is a shame if Xingqiu is simply better than a 5 star.
Is yelan worth? The last banner i got was raiden shogun. I’m ar 53, and I left the game for three months because I was sick of artifact farming.
I’ll farm for her once I get her. I don’t trust my luck
Will Yelan benefit from the thunderous pulse?
Im very sorry but i dont think so
I can’t wait, I already have 64 pulls on the Ayaka banner, with Yelan as my next 5*, and I have 73 wishes saved up and counting until the update. This will go down in history.
Yelan is so good, but I’m not sure if she’s worth investing in. True geo archon Noelle is my go-to, but the other two are mediocre. I’m going to wait for some next banner leaks because I really want Kazuha and I’m sure I’ll be disappointed. I’m going to burn everything if I roll for Yelan and Kazuha comes up next.
She has cloaking abilities as well? That is so sick.
She’s such a cool character; I’d love to have her!
