In this guide, you’re gonna find the best Ganyu team comp that’s going to elevate her damage potential and mesh well with your personal play style.
After rigorous playtesting and theory crafting, I’ve done all the dirty work so that you don’t have to. Unlike others, I’ve gone the extra mile to provide a bunch of different teams and some budget options so that at the end of the day you can build the best possible team for Ganyu with just the units you own.
Let’s get right into it.
Table of Contents
Ganyu is a bow user that carries the Cryo vision and her most unique trait is that her damage profile comes mostly from charge shots. This means she plays very differently compared to your traditional DPS and sub DPS units. This also means that building the right team will be the difference between being frustrated by how clunky she feels or being absolutely amazed by her damage and synergies.
For Ganyu both main or sub-DPS, the reactions that you should invest in are melt which is an amplifying reaction that multiplies the damage that you deal with or freezes which although doesn’t give you extra damage provides invaluable crowd control for you when you land consecutive charge shots. This is assuming you’re not playing a character that has a claymore or does heavy attacks.
Superconduct is decent however, most Superconduct users benefit from any cryo character so it’s actually more valuable to just play one of the cheaper cryo characters than to invest heavily in Ganyu.
For Razor mains, I would hold a trigger on this and be content with Kaeya, Diona, or Qiqi for now. Swirl is also great because Anemo provides a great grouping for your charge shots to get the most value out of your AOE damage.
To recap in terms of elemental reactions, the priority is Pyro then Anemo then Hydro then Electro.
The key ones are Shattering Ice which gives you a 15% increased Crit Rate against enemies affected by Cryo, and Fervent Flames which gives you a generic 25% attack buff.
Shattering Ice is so good especially with the Cryo artifact set. If you’re running Ganyu DPS or just the Cryo DPS with Ganyu being a sub DPS, this resonance is perfect. Fervent Flames is great as always if you’re ever in doubt, it’s always something you can rely on.
Ganyu Team Comp
I’ve listed a mix of Ganyu DPS and sub DPS options so whatever you want to play I have some amazing suggestions for you. I’ve gone ahead and labeled comp’s Abyss ready if I think that comp is something you can plug and play in the Abyss.
Again because the Abyss has different enemies and buffs for each floor I cannot advise you that these comps will work for all 12 floors that’s why I also have listed an Abyss core for each comp that you can build your team around based on the circumstances.
Team #1 DPS Ganyu
Your enemies will experience what it’s like to be in a blender and it’s also the pro edition because it has four 5 stars. This comp is abyss ready and if slimes could talk they would be begging you not to play this because it is truly terrifying.
Ganyu is your bonafide main DPS here, Albedo for some passive damage, and Venti grouping everyone up and giving the whole lot a nice mix. If that wasn’t enough, you can factor in some massive fall damage of Jean following up at the very end of the combo. Anemo resonance also gives you improved mobility to make up for your charge shots restricting your movement and some skill cooldown reduction as an icing on top.
Team #2 Sub-DPS Ganyu
Your enemies are gonna get frozen and they’re gonna like it. Childe will be your main DPS and you’ll be using Ganyu more for a ridiculous burst up time but you can space in some charge shots when your Childe’s E is on cooldown. Double Cryo is picked up here to help boost your crit rate and allow you to build more crit damage.
Freezing enemies in place permanently will allow your childe’s riptide and charge attacks to have max value with the help of The Veridescent Hunt grouping enemies for you. Albedo is here for extra damage since we risk proc’ing superconduct Fischl and he can also proc shatter on frozen enemies but if you don’t have Albedo, Sucrose would be amazing here.
Alternatively, you can play Mona instead of Childe here and then decide whether you want Mona to be your main DPS or Ganyu to fill that role. The principle and play style is the exact same.
Team #3 Sub-DPS Ganyu
This has become my favorite and best in slot Klee team and it’s Abyss ready.
Ganyu’s burst lasts so long that it allows you to be swapped onto Klee for the entire duration of Klee’s burst and still get a lot of melt procs off and Ganyu’s E synergizes so well Klee’s charge attacks. For Sucrose and Bennett, they are a staple in any Klee comp so I don’t really have to explain.
Team #4 Sub-DPS Ganyu
This team is pretty boring but I think it fits the personality of our dark knight of Mondstadt quite well.
Diluc gets a huge boost with Ganyu as a sub DPS since her burst field synergizes really well with Diluc burst changing his attacks to Pyro. I still like Chongyon more since you have more control over your melt procs but the damage this team outputs is poetic and does the work of Robert Frost justice.
Team #5 Sub-DPS Ganyu
This is probably the only Superconduct comp that I think Ganyu makes sense in.
You’re leveraging Ganyu’s burst alongside Xingqui burst to get Perma freeze on your enemies and cash in all the AOE of Keqing’s charge attacks. Sweet, simple, and fitting that both Keqing and Ganyu would synergize pretty well together.
Team #6 DPS Ganyu
This is another comp where Ganyu is the true main DPS. Ganyu and Xiangling have decent synergy, you can taunt enemies right into Gouba get some AOE melt procs off.
Xiangling’s burst is a little awkward with a bow user but you’ll just have to play a little bit closer than comfort and utilize your taunt in sucrose’s burst to keep enemies distracted. Diona is here as a healer and to give you the cryo resonance you need to maximize the frequent damage you get from Ganyu’s ascension.
Team #7 Sub-DPS Ganyu
Ganyu’s passive talent puts in a lot of work for DPS Kaeya along with Cryo resonance.
Ganyu’s E works nicely with Kaeya’s E being a small cone of AOE damage, Xiangling is our melt enabler, and Bennett provides a massive buff and healing. We pick up both pyro and cryo resonance so Kaeya will hit like a truck.
Team #8 Sub-DPS Ganyu
This is my complete free-to-play build if you literally don’t have any other characters besides the free ones and happen to roll Ganyu.
This team works similar to the one mentioned before. However, you have barbara which enables you to get some cheeky freeze reactions which in this scenario works pretty well to keep the big dudes immobile.
I’m excited for you guys to play these comps because they are extremely fun whether you want to play Ganyu as your main or sub DPS. She’s set up to do some pretty devastating damage. If this comp guide helped you build your best Ganyu team, make sure to leave a comment below.
